One of the great advantages of ownership in the Hilton Grand Vacations Club is the ability to use HGVC points to book reservations at an RCI affiliated resort through HGVC’s corporate membership. RCI reservations require an additional fee to book, but require fewer points than the average HGVC resort. For example, a one bedroom platinum in HGVC is worth 4,800 points, which converts to a 2 bedroom from RCI. A one bedroom in RCI is 3,400 points. Some RCI hotel properties are as low as 2,200 points during a “red” or platinum week.
HGVC filters the resorts shown/available to members through weekly reservations, while allowing for booking at any resort in the RCI system through nightly reservations. This filter is in place to prevent HGVC users from visiting resorts that are of low quality or that HGVC has had problems with in the past. HGVC does not want members to have an experience that is below their expectations, even when using RCI.
1. Log in to the HGVC member area and select “My Club” from the left navigation. Then select “RCI Affiliated Resorts” under that. Then Select “Reservations” under that. The large, red RCI globe will appear. Click the globe to load the RCI interface. There will be a confirmation that you are leaving HGVC and a requirement to accept the RCI terms of service.
2. Choose “RCI Exchange Reservations” from the top menu. You will then be given the choice between nightly reservations and weekly reservations. Some resorts do only full weeks and some allow for more flexible selections per night.
3. You may then search inventory across the globe using the maps to refine your search. There are over 3,500 RCI resorts, however many are not available to HGVC members due to the quality requirements that are imposed by HGVC.
